Dispatcher Awarded Life Saving Award

During a recent Board Meeting for San Miguel Fire & Rescue, Fire Communications Supervisor Shelby Ortmeier was presented with a Life Saving Award. On December 6, 2023 Shelby answered a 911 call for a patient that was not breathing. Through her experience and knowledge, she took control of the call and provided successful CPR instructions to the 14 year old grandson of the patient. With the two working together, along with the SDSO, Fire Crews and AMR we are happy to report that despite flat-lining 6 times, the patient’s life was saved.
